1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding agreement between eight arms ("we," "us," or "our") as the provider of KORENANI ("Service") and all users of the Service ("you" or "User").
Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Service Overview
The Service is a learning application that identifies objects from images captured on smartphones and provides multilingual voice playback of their names. It is primarily designed to support learning for children from early childhood to early elementary school.
2.1 Features
- General Recognition (GENERAL): General object recognition using Gemini 2.0 Flash API. Fast and accurate recognition of various everyday objects
- Insect Recognition (INSECT): Specialized insect identification using Kindwise Insect Recognition API. Provides scientific names and ecological information
- Plant Recognition (PLANT): Specialized plant identification using Kindwise API. Provides detailed information from species identification to cultivation
- Manual Annotations: Feature allowing users to manually add names and notes. Unlimited use across all plans
- Learning Management: Save recognized items and organize with multilingual album features
- Achievement & Gamification System: Experience point system, 11 types of achievements, daily learning streaks, celebration animations
- Public Data Features: Browse and copy public items and albums created by other users
- Parental Controls: Manage child profiles, track learning progress, and configure settings
3. Account Registration
3.1 Registration Requirements
- Service usage requires account registration by a parent or guardian
- Japan: Users under 18 years old may only use the Service with parental consent
- United States: Users under 13 years old may only use the Service with parental consent (COPPA compliant)
- EU: Users under 16 years old (13-15 in some member states) may only use the Service with parental consent (GDPR compliant)
- You must provide accurate and current information during registration
3.2 Account Management
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information, including passwords
- Please notify us immediately if you discover any unauthorized use of your account
- One account can manage up to 4 child profiles
4. Service Plans
4.1 Available Plans
The Service offers the following plans:
- Free Plan: Free
- General Recognition (GENERAL): Up to 10 uses per month
- Insect Recognition (INSECT): Up to 5 uses per month
- Plant Recognition (PLANT): Up to 5 uses per month
- Manual Annotations: Unlimited
- 9-language audio support (Japanese, English, Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, and more)
- Item storage: Up to 50 per child
- Standard Plan: ¥680/month (tax included)
- Auto-renewal period: 1 month
- General Recognition (GENERAL): Up to 50 uses per month
- Insect Recognition (INSECT): Up to 25 uses per month
- Plant Recognition (PLANT): Up to 25 uses per month
- Manual Annotations: Unlimited
- 9-language audio support (Japanese, English, Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, and more)
- Cloud sync features
- Item storage: Unlimited
- Premium Plan: ¥1,280/month (tax included)
- Auto-renewal period: 1 month
- General Recognition (GENERAL): Up to 100 uses per month
- Insect Recognition (INSECT): Up to 50 uses per month
- Plant Recognition (PLANT): Up to 50 uses per month
- Manual Annotations: Unlimited
- 9-language audio support (Japanese, English, Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, and more)
- Cloud sync features
- Item storage: Unlimited
- Detailed explanations for recognized objects
4.2 Payment
- Subscription fees are charged through the App Store
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
- Plan changes take effect at the next renewal
4.3 Refund Policy
- Refunds follow the App Store policies
- If you wish to request a refund, please contact Apple Support within 14 days of purchase. Refund decisions are made at Apple's discretion
- We do not provide direct refunds
5. Auto-Renewable Subscription Disclosures
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase
- The subscription auto-renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings after purchase (Apple Support: Manage Subscriptions, HT202039)
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription
6. License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive license to use the App on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. In case of conflict, the Apple Standard EULA shall prevail.

7. Kids Category and Parental Gate
This App is classified in the Kids Category and is designed with child safety as the top priority.
Parental gates are implemented in the following areas:
- External Links (Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Support pages, etc.): Requires solving a simple math problem
- Purchase Flow (Subscription purchases): Requires Face ID/Touch ID/Passcode authentication
- Account Deletion: Requires multi-step confirmation + email verification
8. Usage Guidelines
8.1 Prohibited Activities
Users must not:
- Violate laws or public order
- Infringe on rights of other users or third parties
- Register or post false information
- Interfere with Service operations
- Attempt unauthorized access
- Use the Service for commercial purposes (except appropriate educational institutional use)
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Use automated tools, bots, or scraping
- Impose excessive load on the Service
- Engage in any other activities we deem inappropriate
8.2 Content Usage
- Copyright of uploaded images remains with the user
- However, we retain rights to use content as necessary for Service provision
- Copyright of educational content provided by the Service belongs to us or the rights holders
9. Data Transmission to Third-Party Services
9.1 Image Recognition API Transmission
To provide image recognition features, the Service transmits images uploaded by users to the following third-party APIs:
- Google Gemini 2.0 Flash API (United States): General object recognition (GENERAL mode)
- Kindwise API (European Union): Plant recognition (PLANT mode)
- Kindwise Insect Recognition API (European Union): Insect recognition (INSECT mode)
9.2 Consent
By using the Service and its image recognition features, you consent to data transmission to the above third-party APIs. If you do not use image recognition features (manual annotations only), no data transmission to third-party APIs occurs.
10. Service Changes and Termination
10.1 Service Changes
- We may modify the Service without prior notice
- Significant changes will be notified through in-app notifications or email
10.2 Service Interruption/Termination
We may interrupt or terminate the Service in the following cases:
- System maintenance, inspection, or updates
- Third-party service failures or restrictions
- Force majeure events such as natural disasters or accidents
- Other unavoidable circumstances
10.3 Service Termination Handling
We will make reasonable efforts to provide 90 days' notice before Service termination, except in emergency situations. Data retention after termination is not guaranteed, and users must export their data at their own responsibility.
10.4 Account Suspension/Deletion
- We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms
- Accounts may be deleted after extended periods of inactivity
11. Privacy
11.1 Personal Information Handling
- Personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy
- We exercise special care in handling children's personal information
11.2 Data Storage
- Uploaded images are stored only for the period necessary for Service provision
- Standard/Premium plan cloud sync data is retained for a certain period after cancellation
12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
12.1 Nature of Service and Warranty Disclaimer
- The Service is provided on an "AS IS" basis without warranties of fitness for particular purposes, merchantability, accuracy, completeness, or reliability, whether express or implied
- AI Recognition Limitations: The image recognition features (GENERAL, INSECT, PLANT) use AI-based predictions and are not 100% accurate. Misidentification, misclassification, or recognition failures may occur
- We do not guarantee educational effectiveness
12.2 Third-Party Services Disclaimer
- The Service uses the following third-party APIs and services: Google Gemini 2.0 Flash API, Kindwise API, Supabase, RevenueCat
- We are not responsible for any service interruptions, limitations, termination, specification changes, or data loss caused by these third-party services
12.3 Limitation of Damages
- Our liability for damages arising from the Service is limited as follows (except where excluded by mandatory consumer protection laws):
- Willful misconduct or gross negligence: Full damages
- Ordinary negligence: Direct and ordinary damages only, up to the total fees paid by the User in the preceding 12 months
- Damages to life or body: The above limitations do not apply
- We are not liable for:
- Indirect, special, consequential, punitive damages, or lost profits
- Damages caused by third-party service failures
- Damages caused by force majeure
- Damages caused by AI recognition errors
12.4 User Content Disclaimer
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, legality, or safety of content uploaded by users
- The same applies to content shared by other users through the Public Data feature
13. Intellectual Property
13.1 Our Rights
- All intellectual property rights related to the Service belong to us
- Users may only use the Service for personal purposes
13.2 User Content
- Rights to user-uploaded content remain with the user
- However, users grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use content for the following purposes:
- Service provision (image recognition processing, cloud sync, display in Public Data features, etc.)
- Service improvement and development (machine learning after anonymization, statistical analysis, etc.)
- When using content for machine learning, we remove or anonymize personally identifiable information
13.3 Third-Party Rights Infringement
- Users warrant that their uploaded content does not infringe any third-party copyrights, trademarks, portrait rights, privacy rights, or other rights
- If third parties assert claims against us regarding user content, users shall resolve such matters at their own expense and compensate us for any damages incurred
14. Force Majeure
We shall be relieved of our obligations under these Terms, in whole or in part, if performance becomes impossible or extremely difficult due to events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, war, civil unrest, terrorism, riots, legal changes, government orders, strikes, communication line failures, computer viruses, power outages, or third-party service failures.
15. Exclusion of Antisocial Forces
Users represent and warrant that they do not currently and will not in the future fall under any of the following:
- Organized crime groups, members thereof, associate members, related companies, corporate extortionists, racketeers, or similar entities ("Antisocial Forces")
- Having relationships where Antisocial Forces control management
- Having relationships where Antisocial Forces are utilized
We may immediately terminate the contract or suspend Service provision without notice if users violate this article.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
16.1 Governing Law
- These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Japanese law
16.2 Jurisdiction
- The Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes related to these Terms, except where consumers may file suit at courts having jurisdiction over their place of residence under consumer protection laws or other applicable laws.
17. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms in the following cases:
- When the change serves the general interests of Users
- When the change is reasonable in light of the necessity, appropriateness of changed content, and other circumstances, and does not conflict with the contract purpose
Changes will be communicated as follows:
- Significant changes: Notification via in-app notifications and email at least 30 days before the effective date
- Minor changes: Publication on our website
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
18. General Provisions
18.1 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18.2 No Waiver
Our failure to exercise or delay in exercising any right under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right.
18.3 Assignment
- Users may not assign rights or obligations under these Terms to third parties without our prior written consent
- If we transfer our business related to the Service to a third party, we may transfer our contractual position, rights, obligations, and user information to the transferee, and users hereby consent to such transfer in advance
18.4 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between Users and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
18.5 Survival
After termination of these Terms, Article 8 (Prohibited Activities), Article 12 (Disclaimers), Article 13 (Intellectual Property), Article 14 (Force Majeure), Article 15 (Exclusion of Antisocial Forces), Article 16 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction), and this Article shall remain in effect.
18.6 Language
These Terms are originally written in Japanese, and the Japanese version shall prevail in case of any discrepancy with other language versions.
19. Special Provisions for App Store Distribution
- These Terms are between Users and us, not between Users and Apple Inc. ("Apple")
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its content as defined in these Terms
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the App
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, Users may notify Apple, and Apple will (if applicable) refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App
- We are responsible for addressing any third-party claims relating to the App or User possession or use of the App
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon User acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against Users
